KansasRacingNews.com Reaffirms Commitment to Expanded 2026 Coverage, Seeks Volunteer Contributors

01/08/2026

KansasRacingNews.com (KRN) is committed to delivering another busy and ambitious season of grassroots racing coverage in 2026, with plans to expand beyond its traditional slate of regularly covered tracks. As the site continues to grow alongside the sport, KRN is now seeking additional volunteer contributors to help make that expanded coverage possible.

Since its founding, KansasRacingNews.com has operated on a volunteer-based model with one clear mission: provide free, accessible racing news and information to help grow grassroots motorsports across Kansas and the surrounding region. That mission will not change in 2026.

“Our goal has always been to give racers, tracks, and fans a platform without putting content behind a paywall,” said KRN founder Sheldon Wickwar. “We want to continue that in a bigger way next season, but to do that, we need more help from people who truly love this sport.”

KRN is interested in working with individuals who have a passion for motorsports and an interest in journalism or storytelling. Experience is not required. Volunteers may assist in a variety of ways, including attending races, taking notes, gathering results, or providing basic race summaries. Those contributions can then be turned into full articles by KRN, with proper credit given to the contributor.

“This doesn’t have to mean writing full articles,” Wickwar added. “Even someone who can take good notes and send information helps tremendously. I’m more than happy to write the story and make sure they’re credited for their work.”

While KansasRacingNews.com remains a volunteer-driven operation, KRN is willing to assist contributors when possible, including help with pit passes on a case-by-case basis. However, the organization emphasizes that this opportunity remains voluntary and rooted in the shared goal of growing the sport through free coverage.

Individuals interested in contributing to KansasRacingNews.com during the 2026 season are encouraged to reach out directly to discuss opportunities and expectations.
