One hundred and forty-four race teams checked into the historic WaKeeney Speedway for the final night of the Battle for the Belt on Saturday, October 17th, 2026. The race teams were fired up as the track was in better shape; the features started three wide a piece, and there was added money on the line. Visiting victory lane were Jordan Grabouski in the stock car and modified, Dillon Richards in the hobby stock, Tyler Watts in the sport mod, and Jake Schwien in the sport compact.

Schwien Grabs Emotional Sport Compact Win!

Connor Schwien and Gage Porter grabbed sport compact heat race wins on Saturday's final night of racing.

Gage Porter, Connor Schwien and Kaishen Brack brought the compacts to the green flag of their fifteen-lap main event; the bottom prevailed early as Porter led through the first two corners. Connor Schwien was able to grab the lead down the backstretch using the middle groove. Lap two saw a caution come out as Kevin Tremblay lost a wheel; his night ended with a slow spin. Connor Schwien restarted the field and quickly moved up top to extend his lead. Kaishen Brack and Jake Schwien were side by side battling for third place. A few laps later Jake Schwien entered second place, but quickly a four-wide battle broke out between the top four. Connor Schwien fell back at the halfway point of lap eight, giving the lead to his brother Jake. The closing laps saw Kaishen Brack make attempts to get by Jake but was never able to complete the pass.

Jake Schwien picked up the win, an emotional one that he dedicated to a close family member that he lost this year. Also extending a personal streak of a win in ten years straight. Second went to Kaishen Brack, third went to Alex Boyden, fourth to Kyle Mortensen, and fifth was Kiowa Higdon. Hard chargers at the event were Jake Schwien and Alex Boyden grabbing five spots each!

Grabouski Holds Strong in Modified Action!

Brett Berry, Daniel Gottschalk and Jordan Grabouski all grabbed modified heat race wins. Paxton Dody won the b main.

Brett Berry, Daniel Gottschalk and Jordan Grabouski led the modifieds to the green flag of their twenty-lap feature event, Berry used the top groove to lead half of the first lap, before Gottschalk slid by coming out of turn four. Caution came out early as Dewain Coleman and Jacob Latta went for spins in turns three and four, on lap four. On the restart Gottschalk held the bottom, but Grabouski was making a run on the top, but caution came out as Clay Money, Brett Berry and Austin Caruthers tangled, after Berry and Money's rear ends locked together down the frontstretch. That ended the night for Clay Money and resulted in a DNF in his last Kansas IMCA start. Gottschalk restarted the field and immediately lost the lead in three and four after Grabouski threw a perfect slider. Grabouski would hold strong despite Gottschalk holding tightly on to second, and the back bumper of Grabouski's Brand X modified. Lapped traffic did not slow down Grabouski either; Dylan Sherfick and Dakota Sproul rallied late to find the top three.

Jordan Grabouski grabbed the modified feature win, after falling short of it Friday night. Second went to Dylan Sherfick, third went to Dakota Sproul, fourth was Daniel Gottschalk, and fifth was Kyle Rohleder. Hard chargers in the event were Dakota Sproul and Dalton Bell who gained ten spots each! Other nice runs included Greg Gustus up nine spots. WaKeeney's Dylan Sherfick gained seven spots, while Kyle Rohleder gained six spots. Tanner Black and Dalton Murphy gained five spots each.

Watts Claims Sport Mod Win!

Cody Gearhart, Cody Williams, Brandon Spanjer and Tyler Watts won their sport mod heat races. Ryan Kirchoff and Zane Woodman won the two b-mains.

Cody Williams, Cody Gearhart, and Tyler Watts brought the sport mods to the start of their twenty-lap feature, Watts immediately went to the top shelf to take control, but Jasen Gray went for a spin. Watts brought the field to an original restart, and Williams got the race's lead on the second attempt. Watts used the middle and top to get side by side with Williams and on lap two secured the lead. The duo traded the lead for a couple of laps, and a caution slowed the field on lap six. Williams restarted the field with fourteen laps to go, and started pulling away, while Josh Barnhart and Tyler Watts were battling side by side for second. A slowing car brought the field to another yellow at the halfway point; Williams restarted the field with ten laps to go. Lap twelve saw Tyler Watts use the top groove to find the lead. Caution came out with three laps to go, setting up a final showdown between Watts and Williams. Watts jumped down to the bottom to fend off William's strongest line and was able to hold on.

Tyler Watts won the feature, second was Cody Williams, third was Brandon Spanjer, fourth was Josh Barnhart, and fifth was Cody Gearhart. Hard charger in the event was Alex Wiens who gained eleven spots! Other nice runs included Ryan Kirchoff up eight spots after winning the first b-main, Hayden Howard gained six spots, while Kamren Gruber and Cody Burkhardt grabbed four spots each.

Richards Doubles Up in Hobby Action!

Dillon Richards, Bingston Rogers, and Dillon Thompson all won hobby stock heat races. Kordeal Schmidt won the b-main.

Dillon Richards, Bingston Rogers and Dillon Thomps0n led the hobbies to their twenty-lap main event green flag, caution immediately came out as Dillon Thompson went for a slow roll down the backstretch after contact from Bingston Rogers, Aiden Miller and Kordeal Schmidt. Rogers, Miller and Schmidt continued on, Thompson was not able to continue but was okay after the rollover. Dillon Richards and Brayden Hurley quickly entered a side by side battle that lasted throughout the feature. Trent Matson stayed close, hoping for a mistake from the leaders. The top groove kept prevailing as Dillon Richards held the slight advantage. With eight laps to go Richards still held an advantage as a caution came out, as Tyler Thompson went for a spin in turns three and four. Richards restarted the field, and held the field off, as Brayden Hurley slipped back late in the feature.

Dillon Richards picked up the win, sweeping the weekend! Second went to Trent Matson, third to Kasen Zorn, fourth was Mitchell Fischer and fifth was Eric Chab. Hard chargers in the event were Brandon Wise and Nick Sherfick who gained nine spots each! Other nice runs included Litton Stute and Ted Trumbo who gained eight spots each. James Phelps, Cody Ghumm, and Eric Chab all gained six spots each. Mitchell Fischer and Wade Kolbo gained five spots each.

Grabouski Bests Stock Car Field!

Tathan Burkhart, Keith Stegman, Jeremy Zorn, Jacob Wolsleben, and Kyle Pfeifer all captured stock car heat race wins. David Murray Jr and Angel Munoz grabbed the b-main wins.

Kyle Pfeifer, Jeremy Zorn, and Tathan Burkhart led the stock cars to the start of their twenty-lap main event, Pfeifer used the bottom to grab the initial race lead, but within the first lap Grabouski was hounding him from the top groove. Grabouski grabbed the lead after a few laps using the top groove. The field broke out into numerous side by side battles and three wide battles. Caution came out on lap seven, as Easton LaRiviere went for a spin in turn two. Jordan Grabouski would restart the field with thirteen laps to go. Caution came out as Kyle Pfeifer went for a spin on the restart off of the bumper of Jeremy Zorn. Pfeifer collected Steve Aitken and Brendyn Nordyke in the spin, ending the night for Pfeifer. Grabouski would restart the field again, and shot to the bottom to protect the line from Tathan Burkhart who started switching grooves trying to find a way by.

Jordan Grabouski picked up the win, sweeping the weekend in the stock car! Second was Tathan Burkhart, third was Brandon Gritz, fourth capped off a huge run for Angel Munoz and fifth was Jacob Wolsleben. Hard charger in the event was Angel Munoz who gained fourteen spots! Other nice runs included David Murray Jr, Johnny Yutterman and Quinton Yutterman all grabbing nine spots each. Troy Burkhart, Doug Holzmeister and Zach Schultz gained eight spots each.
