One hundred and forty-five race teams invaded the legendary Rolling Plains Motor Speedway for the 14th annual Sunflower Classic, taming the quick and slicked off track on Friday was Johnny Thomas in an emotional victory in the sport compacts, who dedicated the win to his late mother who passed recently, Nick Ronnebaum in the hobby stocks, Tyler Watts in a thriller sport mod victory over Cole Suckow, Troy Burkhart in the stock car and Greg Gustus in the modified! Saturday night's winners were Connor Schwien in the sport compact, Morgan Olmstead in the hobby stock, Cole Suckow in the sport mod, Doug Holzmeister in the stock car and Clay Money in the modified!

Schwien Roars Back in Compact Action on Saturday!

Kiowa Higdon, Johnny Thomas and Kaishen Brack all picked up heat race victories on Saturday night in the sport compacts. Their fifteen-lap main event started with a front row of Kiowa Higdon and Makennon Sanders, Higdon and Sanders both had bad luck early on as early incidents ended their nights prematurely, meanwhile, heavy hitters Johnny Thomas and Connor Schwien were flying through the field. A three-car battle broke out between Schwien, JD Renfro and Thomas, with the trio trading positions late in the feature. A final corner last lap pass gave Connor Schwien his first win of 2026. Russell's Connor Schwien picked up the win, second was Cheyenne, Wyoming's JD Renfro, third was Beatrice, Nebraska's Johhny Thomas, fourth was Hays's Kyle Mortensen and fifth was Hays's Gage Porter. Hard charger in the event was Connor Schwien who gained fourteen spots on his way to victory lane, other nice runs included Gage Barton up thirteen spots going nineteenth to sixth, Joseph Renfro and Casey Mendenhall both gained six spots each, and Kayden Hudson gained five spots.

"The Hammer" Morgan Olmstead Claims Hobby Win!

Nick Ronnebaum, Bingston Rogers, Brady Bencken and Tyler Thompson all picked up heat race wins on Saturday night in the hobby stocks, while Brayden Hurley and Aiden Miller both picked-up b-main victories. Their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Morgan Olmstead and Bingston Rogers, Olmstead grabbed an early lead and controlled the feature despite challenges from other competitors moving through the field. Morgan Olmstead claimed his second win of his 2026 season, the first one coming in January during the IMCA.TV Winter Nationals. Second went to Friday night winner Nick Ronnebaum, third was Juniata Nebraska's Tyler Thompson, fourth was Oakley's Brady Bencken and fifth was McCook Nebraska's Mitchell Fischer. Hard charger in the event was Ted Trumbo who gained eleven spots after making it through a b-main to make the feature. Other nice runs included Nick Ronnebaum up seven spots, while Tylan Lambertus, Dane Headrick, and Austin Rich all gained five spots each.

Suckow Bounces Back in Sport Mod Action!

Adam Armstrong, Riley Osantowski, Trevin Frye and Dylan Jacobson all won their sport mod heat races on Saturday Night, while Nick Hankins and Blaine Walt won the b-mains. Their twenty-lap feature event started with a front row of Jack Kirchoff and Cole Suckow, it did not take very long for Suckow to gain control of the lead, as he was looking for redemption, as he came up just short of victory on Friday Night. While Suckow led the majority of the event, it was not easy as he faced challenges from Tyler Watts and Adam Armstrong. Suckow however was able to prevail to pick up his first win, after capturing wins at IMCA.TV's Winter Nationals and Clash on the Coast events. Second was Friday night's winner Tyler Watts, third was Dwight's Cody Gearhart, fourth was Jamestown's Austin Carter and fifth was Collyer's Blaine Walt. Cody Williams was the hard charger with thirteens spots gained, other nice runs included Cody Gearhart and Blaine Walt both gaining nine spots each, Brandon Bradford gained six spots, rookie Dylan Bell, along with Adam Armstrong both gained five spots each.

"The Hulk" Doug Holzmeister Dominates Stock Car Action!

Tathan Burkhart, Bo Egge and Dillon Richards all picked up stock car heat race victories on Saturday night, while Tim Watts won the b-feature. Their twenty-lap feature started with a front row of Doug Holzmeister and Eric Cross, quickly Holzmeister sped away with the early race lead. Tathan Burkhart and Dillon Richards quickly found themselves in second and third place as they chased the veteran stock car driver. Late in the feature Burkhart and Richards both pulled off track handing Holzmeister a five second advantage on the field, Holzmeister never looked back and claimed his first win of 2026 and his first in his new B&B Racing Chassis. Second went to Hutchinson's Tanner Thiel, third went to Salina's Eric Cross, fourth went to Rocky Ford Colorado's Quinton Yutterman and Hays's Troy Burkhart rounded out the top five. Hard charger went to Selden's Jason Rogers who gained thirteen spots. The "Gentle Giant" Troy Burkhart gained twelve spots. Jacob Wolsleben gained eleven spots, the Yuttermans Johnny and Quinton both gained eight spots each along with Jeremy Zorn. Kolby Stegman gained seven spots, Tim Watts six spots, and John Foley gained five spots.

Kelsie Black and Dakota Sproul both won heat races in the modified program on Saturday night, their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Greg Gustus and Tanner Black. Tanner Black fired off with the lead over Gustus, but quickly the "MoneyMan" Clay Money was hunting for the lead. Clay Money who was looking for back-to-back Saturday Night Sunflower victories was poised to find victory lane. Money and Black battled throughout the event, along with Brett Berry. Clay Money was able to come away with his first victory of the year, second was Hays's Brett Berry, third was Otis's Tanner Black, fourth was Hudson Colorado's Greg Gustus and fifth was Otis's Kelsie Black. Hard charger in the event was Great Bend's Dalton Murphy who gained nine spots. Other nice runs included Cale Lagroon grabbing eight spots, and Dustin Huehl gained six spots.
