Connor Schwien Grabs Compact Win!

Kappel led early on but quickly the heavy hitters of Connor Schwien, Gage Porter and Kiowa Higdon stormed the castle. The compacts battled and even bumped quite a bit as numerous drivers made contact and had to make drastic saves to keep from piling their cars up. Jake Schwien found the frontstretch wall as he was trying to move up through the field and brought out a caution. Connor Schwien gained control of the race lead and held off charges from Porter and Higdon to pick up his sixth win of the season, and third at RPM. Second was Gage Porter, third was Kiowa Higdon, fourth was Kyle Mortensen and fifth was Grant Logue. Hard charger in the feature was Connor Schwien who gained seven spots. Other nice runs included Kiowa Higdon up six spots, Gage Porter up five spots, and Makennon Sanders up four spots.

The initial start saw cars slip and slide, when the racing got started, the likes of Tyler Heath, Taylor Croisant, and Hayden Ogorzolka were battling at the front. Meanwhile Zach Olmstead was hunting to the front, bringing along rookie Nick Sherfick. The duo got to the front and battled closely for the bulk of the feature. The rookie appeared to have a stronger car at times, but the veteran driver knew all the right moves to find victory lane. Zach Olmstead picked up win number twenty-two Saturday, as win number twenty-one was collected Thursday night in Stockton. Second was the rookie out of WaKeeney Nick Sherfick, third was Brett Conness, fourth was Jake Wharton and fifth was Carson Hageman. Hard charger in the event was Zach Olmstead with nine spots gained.
