Seventy-five race teams checked into WaKeeney for the first night of the John Fose Memorial/Wall of Fame Weekend! Visiting victory lane were Connor Schwien in the sport compacts, Blaine Walt in the sport mods, Eric Cross in the hobby stocks, Brett Berry in the stock cars, and Daniel Gottschalk in the modifieds!
Schwien Holds off Porter in Compact Action!
The sport compacts started the night off with a heat race won by Connor Schwien. Their main event started with a front row of Connor Schwien and Madison Reed, quickly Schwien took control of the event. In the closing laps Gage Porter tried to make the inside groove work, but was unable to make the pass happen. Connor Schwien picked up his second win of the season, after winning in Hays earlier on the year. Second was Gage Porter, third was Jake Schwien, fourth was Kyle Mortensen and Madison Reed finished fifth in his season debut. Hard charger in the event was Gage Porter who gained three spots.

Walt Returns to Sport Mod Victory Lane!
The sport mods ran second on the night, their heat races were won by Adam Weber, Nick Hankins and Jack Kirchoff. Their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Warren Huffman and CJ Pfannenstiel, Huffman led early. Quickly Adam Weber and Blaine Walt started ripping through the field. Within seven laps Walt found himself in the top-five after starting twelfth. Walt would keep his charge going, and eventually grab the race lead. A couple cautions bunched the field up, but no one was able to catch Walt once he grabbed clean air. Blaine Walt scored his second win of the 2025 season, the first one coming in Hays. Second was Cody Gearhart who made a late charge, third was Chad Dolan, fourth was Austin Carter and fifth was Warren Huffman. Hard chargers in the event were both Blaine Walt and Jasen Gray who gained eleven spots each. Other nice runs included Chad Dolan, Ryan Kirchoff, and Preston Donovan up seven spots each. Cody Gearhart and Nick Hankins gained five spots each.

Cross Untouchable in Hobby Action!
The hobby stocks ran third on the program, their heat races were won by Dylan Bell and Eric Cross. Their main event started with a front row of Tyler Heath and Levi Jones, Heath took an early lead until turns three and four when he went for a spin in the front of the field, luckily only collecting one or two other cars. Eric Cross got the lead quickly after the restart and started to click off laps. Meanwhile, Dylan Bell and the Olmstead brothers were moving through the field. Eric Cross held off his good buddy Dylan Bell to score his second win of the season, after winning in Salina, last Saturday night. Dylan Bell finished second, running his streak to eight top three finishes, in eight races. Third went to Zach Olmstead, fourth was Tyler Heath who rebounded from his early spin. Fifth was Mitchell Fischer. Hard charger in the event was Morgan Olmstead who gained eight spots, other nice runs included Bret Conness up seven spots, Dylan Bell and Zach Olmstead up six spots each. Rookie Ted Trumbo and Anna Minks up five spots each.

Berry Scores First Career Stock Car Win!
The stock cars ran two heat races won by Brett Berry and Bill Brack, their feature lined up with a front row of Bill Brack and Garrett Hager. Berry forced the field three wide on the initial start to storm to the lead, he led despite big runs from Tatyana Burkhart and Kyle Pfeifer. Berry made solid laps to lead the majority of the feature, and scored his first career stock car win. Berry added that win to a career filled with sport mod, hobby stock, and modified wins. Second was Tathan Burkhart who grabbed hard charger honors with nine spots gained. Third was Kyle Pfeifer, fourth was Quinton Yutterman, and fifth was Doug Holzmeister. Other nice runs included Cody Ghumm up six spots, and Kyle Pfeifer up five spots.

Gottschalk Adds Another Modified Win!
The modifieds closed out the program, with heat races won by Brett Berry and Jeremy Frenier. Their feature lineup started with a front row of Dalton Bell and Daniel Gottschalk, quickly Gottschalk got to the early lead. Gottschalk led wire to wire, holding off charges from Eddie Belec, Dakota Sproul and Brett Berry. On a final restart, Berry appeared to have a good run at pulling off the sweep, but was unable to get fully by Gottschalk. Daniel Gottschalk grabbed win number three in three feature events. Second was Brett Berry, third was Eddie Belec, fourth was Dakota Sproul and Clay Sellard finished fifth. Hard charger in the event was Clay Sellard who gained nine spots!
