Thomas County Speedway
Colby, KS
Eighty-six race teams checked into a windy, and chilly night at the Thomas County Speedway in Colby, KS. Visiting victory lane were Doug Holzmeister in the stock car, Clay Money in the modified, Dylan Bell in the hobby stock, Josh Barnhart in the sport mod and Gage Porter in the sport compact.
Porter Wins at the Line over Leibhart in the Sport Compacts!
The sport compacts started the night off with a heat race won by Brock Leibhart, the front row of their feature started with Jarrett Marker and Brock Leibhart. Leibhart gained the initial advantage and led most of the race. On the final lap Gage Porter and Leibhart battled side-by-side with Porter grabbing the close victory at the start/finish line. Gage Porter picked up his first win of the season, Brock Leibhart finished second, third was Kaishen Brack, fourth was Grant Logue and fifth was Jarrett Marker. Hard charger in the event was Gage Porter who gained four spots.

Barnhart Slides to Sport Mod Victory Lane!
The sport mods ran second on the program, they ran two heat races won by Brianna Maughlin and Josh Barnhart. Their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Josh Barnhart and Blaine Walt. Walt gained the early advantage and led the first six laps, caution came out on lap six where Walt would restart the field and quickly build a healthy lead over Barnhart. A caution at halfway set up another restart, and this time Barnhart stayed door to door with Walt, Walt scooted away for a little while. Lap thirteen saw Josh Barnhart deliver a slider in turns three and four, and it was perfectly executed, as Barnhart gained the momentum, Walt's crossover attempt came up short, and it was smooth sailing for Barnhart as he went on to pick up the race win. Josh Barnhart picked up win number one on the season, second was Blaine Walt, third was Adam Weber, fourth was Austin Carter and fifth was Ryan Kirchoff. Ryan Kirchoff was the hard charger with six spots gained, Brady Bencken gained four spots, and rookie Josiah Lopez gained three spots.

Holzmeister Scores Hometown Win!
The stock cars were third on the program, they ran two heat races won by Kyle Pfeifer and Brett Berry, their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Doug Holzmesiter and Kolby Stegman. Holzmeister gained an early lead, and jumped out to a good-sized margin, throughout the feature Quinton Yutterman, Kyle Pfeifer and the Burkhart duo started moving forward. The top five battled closely throughout the entire event, with the veteran driver Holzmeister using all of his car to hold off a very fast Yutterman to pick up his fourth win of the season, after collecting wins in Texas and New Mexico. Second was Quinton Yutterman, third was Tathan Burkhart, fourth was Troy Burkhart and fifth was Kyle Pfeifer. The new father Tathan Burkhart was hard charger as he gained five spots, Keith Stegman gained four spots, and Troy Burkhart picked up three spots.

Bell Untouchable in Hobby Stock Win!
The hobby stocks ran fourth on the program, with three heat races and a b-main, Justin Yutterman, Morgan Olmstead and Trent Matson all won heat races. With Zach Olmstead winning the b-main after suffering a flat tire in his heat race. Their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of James Love and Levi Jones, quickly Dylan Bell gained the race lead from a fourth-place starting position, and the third-place starter Brady Bencken jumped to second place. Dylan Bell was dominant as not even a late race caution could slow down Bell. Dylan Bell grabbed his first win of the season, continuing a streak of four straight podium finishes to start the season. Second was Brady Bencken, third was Morgan Olmstead, fourth was Cody Williams, and fifth was Zach Olmstead. Hard charger was Zach Olmstead who used that b-main win to advance eleven spots in the feature event. Other nice runs included Chad Wulf and Cash Tubbs up six spots each, Cody Williams, Travis Branum and Bret Conness all gained five spots each.

Money Dominant in Modified Action!
The modifieds closed out the program with two heat races won by Brett Berry and Kyle Rohleder, their twenty-lap main event started with a front row of Clay Money and Greg Gustus. Gustus tried to stay close to Money, but the Money-Man was too good and took off like a rocket on the initial start. A spinning John Fabrizius early on, stacked the field up, but Money was riding off into the sunset. Brett Berry and Kyle Rohleder both made a late race charge but just needed a couple more laps to catch Money in lapped traffic. Clay Money picked up his second win of the season, after winning at RPM Speedway in Hays, KS earlier on. Second went to Kyle Rohleder, Brett Berry was third, fourth went to Jeremy Frenier and Dylan Sherfick rounded out the top five. Hard chargers in the event were Brett Berry and rookie Aiden Miller who gained seven spots each, Kyle Rohleder gained four spots.

The next event in Colby will be "O'Reily's Night at the Races" on Friday, May 9th with hot laps starting at 7:15pm and racing scheduled for 8:00pm.
