The Thomas County Speedway hosted their third night of IMCA points racing Friday Night, May 24th, and the racers put on a show all night. An emotional night all night saw the community rally around the small town of Grinnell, KS who got hit by a tornado last Sunday. Track journalist and track promoter Jason McIntyre coordinated with sponsors to allow Grinnell residents, and anyone that helped with the cleanup efforts, free general admission, the track also raised money for Grinnell and accepted donations.
Sherfick Strikes in Colby!
John Fabrizius started a strong run in his modified with a heat race win in the only heat race for the modifieds. The main event lined up with a front row of Lloyd Stover and John Fabrizius, quickly Fabrizius took an early lead, but it did not last long as "Dynamite" Dylan Sherfick launched to the race lead. Once out-front Sherfick never looked back, as he pulled away from the field easily. Clay Money followed Sherfick through the field but could never catch him. Dylan Sherfick grabbed win number one of 2025, Clay Money finished second, third was John Fabrizius, fourth was Mike Bainter and fifth was Drew Miller. Sherfick, Money and Drew Miller all shared hard charger honors with three spots gained.

Weber Dominant in Sport Mod Action!
Blaine Walt and Adam Weber shared heat race wins for the sport mod class. Their feature event lined up with a front row of Josiah Lopez and Jack Kirchoff. Kirchoff held the lead for a little while, but Weber was flying through the field, once Weber got to the lead and clean air he was gone. Adam Weber won the feature by almost seven seconds. Blaine Walt and Josh Barnhart battled late for second, with Walt getting the spot. Barnhart finished third, Austin Carter fourth and Brianna Maughlin finished fifth. Hard charger in the event was Adam Weber who gained seven spots, Josh Barnhart gained six spots, and Blaine Walt gained three spots.

Olmstead Grabs Another Hobby Stock Win!
Brayden Hilzer and Zach Olmstead won hobby stock heat races. Their main event started with a front row of Alicia Hilzer and Ted Trumbo, after a few laps Zach Olmstead found himself in the lead, and cruised to his ninth win of the season. Second went to Brayden Hilzer, third was Trent Matson, fourth was Mitchell Fischer and rookie Ted Trumbo finished fifth, never dropping out of the top five. Hard charger in the event was Zach Olmstead who gained nine spots, other nice runs included Ray West up six spots, and Mitchell Fischer up five spots.

Tathan Burkhart Holds on in Stock Car Action!
Tathan Burkhart and Doug Holzmeister won the two heat races for the stock cars by multiple car lengths. The main event started with a front row of Jeff Tubbs and Bobby Eubanks, a few laps in Tathan and Holzmeister found themselves in the front of the field. Holzmeister had a strong car on the bottom and started to make a pass for the lead, when Kolby Stegman went around to bring out the caution. On the final restart with three laps to go, Tathan moved down to the bottom and held off the stock car veteran of Holzmeister. Tathan Burkhart grabbed win number three of the season, second was Doug Holzmeister, third was Troy Burkhart, fourth was Quinton Yutterman and fifth was Bobby Eubanks. Hard charger was Tathan Burkhart with five spots gained, other nice runs included Troy Burkhart and Quinton Yutterman up four spots each.

Mortensen Shines in Compact Action!
Kyle Mortensen won the only sport compact heat; the compact main event started with a front row of Mortensen and Leibhart. Mortensen gained control of the race lead and led most of the event to score his second win of 2025. Second was Brock Leibhart, third was Gage Porter, fourth was Nathan Volbracht and fifth was Chris Glass.
